BAMMA confirmed today that a back injury has forced Middleweight Champion Tom “Kong” Watson to withdraw from his title defense at BAMMA 7 against Frank Trigg. Former Bellator welterweight tournament participant ‘Judo’ Jim Wallhead (21-6) has agreed to step in for the injured Watson and will face Trigg in a non-title bout. BAMMA 7 will take place on September 10 at The National Indoor Arena in Birmingham.
After weeks of excruciating build up consisting of public confrontations, playful words, mean mugging and "bein' a geeza", we were finally able to bare witness to the bad blood confrontation between Alex Reid and Jason Barrett.
UCMMA took a big step forward with last nights show. For the very first time, it was available as a live PPV. Instead of ticket sales being the sole source of revenue, UCMMA was accessible to any Sky or Virgin subscriber for a reasonably low price of £9.95. It's something the UK market needs if promotions are to garner the kind of financial investment they so need to attract bigger fighters, polish their product and legitimately promote themselves to the masses.
This step forward may have been negated however. The fall out from last nights show see's a vast number of people arguing about the legitimacy of the main event fight. We don't mean whether as a fight it bares any relevance to MMA (we know it doesn't, see here), more that the fight, just like the build up, was all part of an elaborate script.

On a typical London morning where the weather is about as confused as we are about the status of the tube strikes, WWBRD attended the BAMMA 6 Press Conference held at Lilywhites flagship store in Piccadilly Circus.

On a warmer than normal 5th of February, WWBRD.com made the trip to The Troxy in Limehouse, London to witness the fast rising, all singing all dancing UK MMA organisation known as UCMMA as they put on their 18th showing in front of a star studded, sell-out crowd. Heading up the card is a Welterweight title fight between one-time TUF Season 9 contestant Dean Amasinger and UK veteran John Maguire.
We've always pegged Tim Sylvia as a slow, ambling, boring, one dimensional sloth like creature. What we didn't know was that Tim is actually a brilliant physicist and showcased his recently refurbished Time Machine.
Tim's not like most guys. Tim likes to cuddle afterwards
Managing to fool us all, Tim jetted back to the 13th of June 2009. We figured this must be the case because he looked like Yogi Bear after too many picnic baskets last night and the last time he looked this bad was against Ray Mercer on, you guessed it, 13th of June 2009. TweetTagged :
James McSweeney is a polarising figure amongst MMA fans but don’t underestimate his prominence amongst UK followers of the sport.
Eyes up and hands off them titties James. Being a stranger in a foreign land can be a tricky business. It could only be worse if documented and broadcast to millions around the world on a weekly basis. At the mercy of a notoriously fickle editing process, this was exactly the position James McSweeney found himself in during his stint on TUF 10. TweetTagged :
After a simple, innocent question was asked, an infatuation was started. It's a question we've considered for a long time and now its your chance to do just the same. With the latest news, reviews and opinions you can now ask yourself; What Would Bas Rutten Do?
If you have a query, a problem, a suggestion or merely want to tell us how much you love Bas too, then please drop us a line at
As much as it pains us, we are in no way affiliated with Bas Rutten. We've mentioned him on twitter once or twice but he doesn't know us and we don't know him. Well, we know a lot about him, but not on a personal level. Please don't confuse this issue or take what we say out of context. We just love Bas, MMA and all the shenanigans that go along with it.
